LP GEAR NSS/C STYLUS FOR SOUND RESEARCH DJ-1600B DJ 1600B DJ1600B TURNTABLE

The Sound Research DJ-1600B DJ 1600B DJ1600B turntable was fitted with a M-22 M22 phono cartridge and a needle stylus. Our replacement stylus features a highly polished NSS/c diamond mounted to an alloy tube. It offers better tracing of record grooves and provides improved reproduction of vocals and music. A photo of the stylus replacement is supplied above. The color of the stylus varies. Please verify and use this as a guide only since the cartridge and stylus may have been changed through the years.

The conical stylus has long been misunderstood and disparaged as a ghetto stylus. We, in accord with Art Dudley of Stereophile, like the sound quality of a conical tip stylus: It offers a raw and simple sound quality. "It emphasizes musical content over air, allowing instruments and voices to sound more substantial, and music to sound, overall, less fussy than with other tip types."

The Nude Schwarz stylus (NSS) raises the performance of conicals and all stylus tip types even further! For over half a century, the traditional way to craft a stylus, which carries on still today, is to bond the stylus tip to a crown (metal shank) that in turn is bonded to the cantilver. The additional mass, and a different material element in between the diamond tip and cantilever, cause some loss of nuance in transmitting groove modulation from the tip to the cantilever. With the Schwarz edition, a nude diamond stylus (a whole diamond) is inserted, fastened and/or glued directly to the cantilever - banishing the need for the crown (metal shank).

Do not order this stylus if it looks different from what you have. It will not fit if the original cartridge is missing or has been changed. Please contact us if you need assistance or prefer a new cartridge. If possible, provide us with the markings on the existing cartridge and stylus (look for the brand and model number). Photos will be helpful.
