Rega Fono Mini A2D USB phono preamp

Product Info

A cost effective version of the Rega MM Fono and based on the phono stage circuitry as used in the Mira amplifier, the Fono mini A2D phono preamp offers exceptional performance and convenience. It uses the same close tolerance parts as the bigger and more expensive Fono and IOS phono preamps but packaged in a minimalist satin black aluminum case for an accurate RIAA low-noise record playback solution.

Records are "cut" using an equalization curve that adjusts the recorded frequencies so that they will fit in the record grooves. This standardized curve is called the RIAA equalization curve (RIAA = Recording Industry Association of America). The Rega Fono mini A2D is designed to accurately reverse this equalization curve so that when the record is played, it sounds the way it was intended by the recording artists. The Fono mini A2D also amplifies the signal from a moving magnet (MM) cartridge to a suitable level for all line level inputs of an audio preamp or receiver. Its USB interface and Level control simplifies the transfer of records to PC/laptop .

The new Fono mini A2D is cocooned in an extruded aluminum case and very user friendly front and back panels that make this phono preamplifier a very easy product to use. The RCA input and output connectors are in the rear panel. A Level control in the front panel is for the USB output - proper record level ensures optimum recording quality.

To transfer vinyl to your PC, you will need to install a digital audio editor. Such software is widely available as a free download (such as Audacity) from the Internet. This is a simple interface which allows monitoring of volume and balance while recording the audio stream to your hard drive.
